Oh yes, there are a lot of reasons why we start something. It all begins with a thought, then a desire, then it builds up to logic and then they all get connected. Once they are all there, it becomes an action and then these…
One of the two reasons:
As a teacher in a foreign land, I have received lots of questions regarding how it is like to teach in the US. Friends and former classmates email me numerous questions regarding this profession. The questions that usually come up on their headings were: How is it different from the Philippines? How are the students? the school system? the pay? the co-teachers? Are there lesson plans? Licensure? Principals? School vacations?
So I thought rather than emailing them one by one I might as well compose a general fact sheet (a.k.a. blog) that will help my friends and anybody who might be trying to access information regarding teaching in the US, but couldn’d find any or if there is it does not make sense at all. I know for a fact that when I was still in college there was scarcity of information with regards to teaching in another country and it used to lead me to frustration. I can just imagine a teacher who has the desire to teach in the US but could not find any information to begin with!
So, it is my hope that this fact sheet *read* blog will fill in the void.
Second reason:
This was created because of all my family members, my friends and all the Filipino teachers who have dedicated their lives to feed the minds of many children either back home or in other countries.
This was entirely started as a ground to reflect how Filipino teachers who have left the country to teach in the US carry on with their lives in a classroom of foreign tongues and different colors.
This is for all my friends who salute to the US flag everyday with their hopes that the US children will at least learn something new that will better off their perception in lives.
This is for a classmate who died with a teacher’s heart in Maryland.
This is for everybody who believes to change the world….ONE STUDENT AT A TIME.
